The new Google Maps may be available to all, but it's still optional and there's a very good reason for that – it's still not ready. It's largely functional, but there are still some missing features, some bugs to iron out, and more testing to be done on more devices before it becomes the default.
In the meantime, the team is working on adding new things. For example, there's now a "fly" option for directions, besides the regular, car, public transport, walking, and biking.
If you're planning a trip between two cities, you can also check out how to get there by plane. The feature only works in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands, as it's powered by Google Flight Search.
