As it was announced a few weeks ago, Google Latitude has finally gone offline.
The service was retired on August 9, as planned by Google. The product had become obsolete, the company says, as all its features have been integrated with Google Maps.
The retired products list includes Google Latitude in Google Maps for Android, the Latitude API, the public badge, the iGoogle Gadget and the Latitude website at maps.google.com/latitude.
This basically means that users will no longer be able to share their location with this tool, while the list of friends on Latitude will also become invisible.
By denying users the ability to check in with Maps and asking them to use Google+ instead, the company is trying to bring more traffic to the social network
